I will be writing about what makes me happy for December 3rd. I have a lot to be happy about: I have an amazing husband, two beautiful boys, family, friends, blogging, and a roof over my head. Today I will be writing about my husband James and our story of how we met. I know, cliche but he seriously makes me happy. So grab your popcorn, sit back, relax, and let’s get this show on the road…
It all began on 2009 on a little island called Okinawa.
I was 20 at the time, working at a bowling alley on Camp Foster. I met a lot of people working there and befriended a Marine named Melissa. I decided to go out with her one night to an enlisted bar called the Globe & Anchor. There I ran into one of her friends named James who couldn’t keep his eyes off of me (lol). I had a boyfriend at the time, nothing serious but I pushed away his advances. Over the course of a couple weeks he started hanging out with my friend and I, and I had no idea it was a ploy. I had every intention of swearing in to join the Air Force when we started dating. A month in a half into our relationship we both talked about what that would mean, possibly never seeing each other again so I decided not to. We both took a chance.
I gave up joining the Air Force.
Now, some thought I was crazy and thought that I was throwing away my life. They thought I was giving up a great opportunity by leaving Okinawa and moving to the states. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life. 3 1/2 months into the relationship we got married at the court house in New York and I moved in with him shortly after. We’ve had many obstacles thrown our way: two deployments, one unaccompanied tour, and gone for 10 months due to TBS but we persevered. If anything it made our bond stronger! Now almost a decade later, two kids and our first home together in North Carolina, I couldn’t imagine going through this journey without him. We proved everyone who doubted us wrong!
Great husband and great father.
He is such a hard working man. He works so hard at the office and at home to make sure his family is taken care of. I love watching him with the boys, they are both mommy boys but the bond they share with him is unique and beautiful. They both love and look up to him.
Lastly, he understands my love for blogging. He may think it’s silly but he knows how happy it makes me that he purchased my domain name and for a host! I am super excited to see where my blogging journey takes me next year! My blogging journey wouldn’t be successful without him. I hope he knows how much I love him and how much it means to me, he truly makes me happy!
