BlogMas Day 18:
Today I am sharing with you my favorite brine recipe that I used a couple years ago for my roasted Turkey.
- 2 gallons water
- 1 apple, quartered
- Rosemary sprigs
- Black peppercorn, whole
- Bay leaves
- 1 cup sugar
- Lemon zest
Combine ingredients into a large pot and boil. Allow brine to cool to room temperature.
Place turkey in brining bag and add brine. Let sit overnight in the refrigerator.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Take turkey out of brine, place in roast pan, and pat dry. Season turkey with poultry seasoning.
Bake turkey for two hours, frequently basting every 15 minutes.
That was the first time I used a brine for my turkey and was not disappointed. If you remember reading my post about my favorite holiday memory, you’ll know I wasn’t that great of a cook.

It was one of the moistest turkeys I have ever made. It was so succulent and delicious! We usually fry our turkeys with Cajun seasonings injected but if I roast another turkey I’m using this recipe.
