Egg White Oatmeal

This has been one of my favorite “healthy” recipes for breakfast. It is so filling, it’ll keep you full and happy until lunch time!

I use to put 1/2 scoop of protein powder in my “proats” but now that I’m not working I can’t justify spending all of that money on a tub of protein. There are many different ways to get protein that is not found in a tub!

Egg White “Proats” Recipe

*Recipe adapted from Peanut Butter Fingers.

Ingredients:

1 Banana
1/2 cup Quick Oats
1/2 cup Soy Milk (or milk of your choice)
3/4 cup Egg Whites (carton)
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1 tbsp Peanut Butter

*I also like to add a little bit of pumpkin spice seasoning.

Directions:

  1. Mash bananas in a medium microwavable bowl–I like to add the liquids with it to make it easier to mash.
  2. Once the banana is mashed and blended with the milk and egg whites, add the oats and cinnamon.
  3. Microwave for 1 minute and 15 secs, stir and then microwave for 30 secs.
  4. Repeat stirring and microwaving for 30 secs for at least 3-4 times.

I absolutely love this recipe! It has been one of my breakfast staples since I came across it on Pop Sugar a few years ago. You can make the recipe your own too by adding fruit toppings, nuts, almond butter, coconut flakes, etc!
