Sharing is caring!

I am excited to share an interview with Women with Gifts International! The founder, LaNette, is one of the most inspiring and most supportive individual I have ever met in my blogging career. I came across the organization on my first couple months on Twitter, they were seeking bloggers to share why they are different.

I am glad I took that leap and answered their calling–I gained a wonderful friend! Without further a due, here are LaNette’s answers to my questions–I hope you enjoy!

Please introduce yourself and your blog to my readers.

When did you begin your blogging journey?

About 5 years ago, due to an illness I had a short-term memory loss which I discuss in detail in my recent book, Words of Inspiration, 100 Days of Words. Before the short-term memory loss, I wrote for magazines, newspapers and blogs in order to boost my then small business. So I was devastated, when me as a college graduate had to start all over again. Sometime my writing still reflects a lot of mistakes not because I don’t know how to spell or write but because sometimes I forget and I tend to write like I talk on the phone to people –WHICH IS NOT PROPER AT ALL– HA!

Can you describe your blogging style?

Because I have experience so much in my life. Because I have experience so many ups and downs, I feel my writing style| blogging style is simply all about inspiration and being positive. I literally call myself an Internationalist because I refuse to write or post about anything negative. Regardless, of where I go or what I do I’m known to be positive. I simply try to look at the positive of every situation, so my writing reflects that.

What type of networking do you think is better to grow your audience?

If I could be honest, I think when you are true to who you are and you allow people to see that the audience will come. I don’t think it’s about the numbers it’s about the loyalty more so.

What was your greatest failure and how did you overcome it?

Last year I moved from Texas to Colorado and I had to start all over again. Friends, business, trying new things. I don’t really consider this a failure but it was super hard to push myself to get going again and not suppress the true me. The me that wanted to get jump out there and spread what I know about business and women.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I sit at home and watch crime stories. I know this is funny, but in my mind I feel that I’m helping solve crimes. HA! HA!

What is your least favorite post, and why?

My least favorite post is when completed a guest post for another blogger and I shared completed details about myself, how I was raised and just detailed family secrets. I’m a domestic and sexual abuse survivor and although the story needed to be told, and needed to be shared… I don’t think I was quiet ready to share. I was still in a healing process.

What is the biggest trends in your niche?

My niche is strictly inspirations so I write a lot of quotes and inspirational pieces to feed into that. I also continued to look for people that’s into what I like.

What are some things people don’t know about you?

A lot of people don’t know that I was molested at the age of 11 until the later part of my teens by a family member and raped at the age of 19 by my first boyfriend. I tried to hide it for so many years, but I realize so many people were hurting from the same pain that I felt. Which is why I share the information a lot now in order to be more of an advocate instead of a victim.

What does a typical day in your life look like?

I’m a founder of an organization, but we haven’t gotten to the point where we pay our volunteers so at the moment I still work like everyone else. I spend a bulk of my day being a wife and mother then I volunteer with the organization and then I work between 8-9 hours on an actual 9-5 job.
